Dear Friends and Fellow Citizens!
My name is Roy Cohen and I am running for the 2014 Aurora Council.
My family has lived in Aurora since 1988. My wife Fiona and I are the proud parents of four children ranging in age from ten to nineteen. All of our children attend local Aurora schools and we are involved in a variety of sports and community activities.
My extensive experience in the business world began at the age of eighteen when I founded and operated the bakery chain "La Maison du Croissant". I am currently in the commercial real estate business.
I have been involved in the Aurora community for many years. I have coached (and I am still coaching) numerous House League, REP, and Special Needs teams for the Aurora Youth Soccer Club (AYSC), as well as, several hockey teams for the Aurora Minor Hockey Association (AMHA). Over the years I have been involved with coaching in the Aurora Basketball League (ABL) as well. I have also helped out with the S.O.S. Dr. G. W. Williams project which is trying to stop the relocation of this high school from its current location in central Aurora.
My most satisfying accomplishment is being a dad. I cannot express the joy I feel each and every day watching my children grow. It is a small window of opportunity we are given to raise them and I want to be involved as much as possible.
Children, Family, Community, Aurora First. That's what I stand for.
We need strong leadership and innovative approaches to the changing landscape of economic uncertainty. I will work hard to become the leader you can count on to do the right thing. I believe our unique geographical landscape offers this community many opportunities but we need a vision for the future.
From our citizens of long standing in the community to the new young families who have made Aurora home, we must build a solid economic foundation and ensure that we maintain our beautiful small town feeling.
I am deeply inspired by our beautiful community.
We have made many friends in our time here and I would be honoured to represent you on council. I will ensure that all concerns are addressed and hold all accountable for their paid responsibilities. I believe in "Fair Play" and I will treat the Mayor and my fellow Councillors with respect and courtesy.
My pledge to all citizens of Aurora is simple - AURORA FIRST!
On October 27th vote AURORA FIRST - Elect Roy Cohen to the 2014 Aurora Council.
